Well, now we still do it, but in different ways. We email each other, post things on our blog, and occasionally IM (instant message). On a rare occasion, a note is left on the kitchen counter. Phone calls are nice for hearing each others voice, but rare in a busy day with kids and work. It's hard to stop what you're doing to chat. Today's technology has made it more convenient to communicate and stay connected. I sit in front of two computers all day long (not sure why I don't have a pear-shaped body yet) and watch random emails pop-up while I'm working. Since I put an iMac in our kitchen over a year ago, I know my wife looks for a "little red number" that randomly appears throughout the day. Hey honey, I've got the same "little red number" here at work. ;-) See...
The only problem I see now is that we don't keep those little notes like we did years ago or we don't take the time to do it as often as we should. Scrapbooks are not a thing of the past and they're not meant to be buried in the bottom of a box in a closet. Now it's a living documentation with a series photos, movies, emails, blogs, etc. No other time in history has this type of documentation been possible. Our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be able to truly experience our history from our perspective... but only if we give it to them. I wonder what our parents' or grandparents' past was like from their perspective?
I do believe our Saturday morning chats over a cup of coffee will be remembered by those little ears that listen in. But, they may change the story from their perspective. So, I may have to start recording them with my digital recorder watch! ;-)

Technology is certainly a great way to keep in contact!
A hand written note (or letter) every now and then still works the charm, though! :D
