Yesterday afternoon...
Kolbe: Where are you going?
Me: The store. Do you want to go?
Kolbe: Sure!
We get to the sports store in the mall.
Kolbe: What are we getting?
Me: Something red. Maybe a jersey or sweat shirt. Want a tic-tac?
Kolbe: Yeah, thanks. A jersey? What kinda jersey? Why does it have to be red?
Me: Well, the CEO of my company asked me if I wanted to go with him to the Washington Captials hockey game tomorrow. But he told me to wear red because it's the home team color. It's called "Rockin' the Red."
Kolbe: Cool. So what red thing are you going to wear? You getting the jersey?
Me: Well, a Caps jersey costs $100, a Caps sweatshirt costs $50, and a Caps t-shirt costs $18. Seems like a lot of money, doesn't it.
Koble: Yeah. So which one are gonna get?
Me: I don't know. Let's look around a bit.
Walk toward the back of the store and see a couple of red hoodies for sale.
Me: Now that's what I'm talkin' about! See Kolbe. These were normally $20, but they're half-off! 10 bucks! Perfect.
Kolbe: Oh yeah, cool. Is everybody in your company gonna wear red?
Me: No.
Kolbe: Why not?
Me: Oh, not everybody in my company is going. It's just my CEO and me... nobody else.
Kolbe: Cool. How many people are in your company? And, what's a CEO?
Me: Almost 13,000 people. And, a CEO is the boss or leader over all of them.
Kolbe: Wow! And he pick you ahead of all those people. You must be the best worker.
Me: Well, no, I don't think he picked me because I'm the best worker. I think he's just comfortable around me and he probably thought it might be fun. If his son lived nearby, he would probably be going with him. His son is about my age. Besides he's a really good guy and really down-to-earth... easy to talk to.
Kolbe: He's sounds cool.
Me: Yeah, he is. If you watch channel 4, you might see us on TV. We'll be sitting right next to the ice.
Kolbe: Cool. I'll look for you.
Today...
It was really fun. We had great seats right next to the ice. The Geiko caveman sat right near us getting the crowd rowdy. I wish I brought my camera. Caps beat the Penquins (5-2). It was really cool to hang out with my CEO and see him wearing a Caps ball cap and Alex Ovechkin jersey. I'm so use to seeing him in a suit. I also found out that those were his person seats. He bought those specific seats because Ovechkin is a left wing and scores a lot of goals from that area. (For those who don't know, Ovechkin is like Michael Jordan of hockey). I felt honored to be "Rockin' the Red" with my CEO.
