Fresh Blueberries and Time with Mom

I ordered Fresh blueberries from a food coop this week, so the kids are being treated to Blueberry Pancakes for lunch today....but I was treated to something even more special... time with my precious four year old daughter.

After a busy morning of Mass, and chores, and the usual buzz of life around here, there was a moment of quiet. The two littlest girls were down for an early nap , and the older kids were busying themselves downstairs. I grabbed my cold coffee from earlier in the morning, threw it in the microwave, and sighed, relishing a quiet moment in the kitchen all to myself....until I bumped into something behind me! It was Sophia, my sweet dark haired "almost five" year old.

"Is it my time?" she said
"Your time for what?" I asked, a little huffy about my quiet being disturbed
"My time wich you?", "Can I help you cook Mommy?"

Well, all too often I am busy and these moments pass without me noticing, but Thanks be to God...I grabbed this one! Literally.. I scooped her up , put her on a stool, and we set to work making fresh blueberry pancakes, just Sophia and Mommy. She was so proud of her pancakes, and I was so grateful for the grace to be with my little girl, and remember just how much I really like spending time with her. She is growing up so quickly! She is not a "baby" anymore. She is a big girl, almost ready for school. She is full of imagination and everything girly; and before too long she will be "busy" and these "can I help you Mommy" moments will be gone. Thank you Lord for these moments of grace....
