We were talking about buying a few beanbags for our currently spacious (read here empty) living room. And after researching and pricing them...Stan says, " I can make one of those things! I'm not paying 30-100 bucks!"
And...He did! All we need is some stuffing, we already have several willing children ready to try it out! You put me to shame, honey...but boy am I glad I have you.

Who needs a pattern? This was just a larger version of the duffel bag that we made back in middle school! I'm glad I had home ec.
The $30 bean bags are cheap quality. There's a reason bean bags will cost up to $250 or more! The one I made for less than $20 has better material for durability and will have better filling (i.e., more comfortable). I'll be home with the filling tonight... along with our new couch!
BTW, this bean was just a test. I'm making a huge one that you and I can sit in together... a love seat bean bag! I'll let you choose the material and pattern for that one. Plus, I've got a new idea for each one of the kids! I'll fill you in when I get home!
In my research, I've read that bean bags have evolved quite a bit since the early days of shiny, bright colors. They're actually becoming quite trendy beyond just kids, teens, and college kids. They are now quite customizable for any living room... if any adult dares to go beyond the traditional couch, love seat and chair combo. ;-) I'm willing, if you are.
I am impressed! Can't wait to see them in a couple weeks!
You are my BROTHER!!! Welcome to my side of the creativity! I never could sleep until I finished my outfits for school. I Love it! I think I know what you are up to with maing each of the kids chairs..CUSTOMIZABLE! I miss my sewing machine!
